Voltage Follower

Working principle

A voltage follower keeps the output voltage equal to the input voltage (voltage gain of 1):

Vout = Vin

A voltage follower can be used as a buffer because it draws very little current due to the high input impedance of the amplifier, thus eliminating loading effects while still maintaining the same voltage at the output.

Experiment

  • Verify that the output voltage indeed follows the input, with positive and negative voltage values.
